About the Role
This role is for an Occupational Therapist within the Grenfell Education Team in North Kensington, focusing on delivering educational support to children, young people, and families impacted by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The position involves working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to build confidence, capacity, and help individuals imagine futures beyond their experiences.
Responsibilities
- Build the capacity of other professionals and parents/carers to support children and young people.
- Provide advice, guidance, assessment, and ongoing support.
- Contribute to training and impact evaluation.
- Provide inclusive, person-centred Occupational Therapy for children and young people aged 0-25 with diverse needs.
- Deliver compassionate, meaningful, accessible, and empowering therapy to children and their families.
- Work with children, young people, parents/carers, and school staff across community and education settings.
- Collaborate with other professionals in a multidisciplinary team to create positive outcomes.
- Design and deliver tailored interventions to support children and young people to function and thrive.
- Restore a sense of agency and potential, helping children and families believe in their right to belong, achieve, and aspire.
- Carry out a variety of assessments and write clear, accessible reports.
- Act as an advocate to help schools, families, and professionals understand what young people need to feel safe, connected, and capable of moving forward.
Requirements
- Experienced, qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Deep commitment to ensuring the lives of young people affected by Grenfell are not defined by trauma alone.
- Ability to work creatively and listen to stakeholders' views to refine work and bring about lasting changes.
- Thoughtful communicator and collaborator, able to build trust with families, schools, and professionals.
- Confident working at different levels to support change for individuals, classrooms, families, and communities.
- An Enhanced DBS with children's barred list is required.
