About the Role
The Inspector is responsible for delivering compliance-focused regulatory assurance activities within the alcohol, gaming, horse racing, and private retail cannabis sectors regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct risk-based, outcomes-focused compliance activities, including inspections of AGCO regulated entities.
- Support the AGCO’s outcomes-focused approach in delivering services.
- Act as a resource and provide information and education to stakeholders to promote compliance.
- Document detailed accounts of daily inspections and activities.
- Maintain logs of all activities.
- Prepare inspection reports and escalate as per policies.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience and substantial knowledge of risk-based, outcomes-focused law/regulatory enforcement and information-gathering techniques.
- Direct experience conducting inspections and/or other compliance activities.
- Excellent report writing and organizational skills with the ability to meet frequent deadlines.
- Proven ability to build relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to make sound decisions in difficult/confrontational situations.
- Demonstrated ability to give evidence at hearings and court proceedings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience using word processing applications and MS Office software.
- Willingness to travel and work variable hours (including nights, weekends, and statutory holidays).
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence free of offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining a high volume of work.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check.

Salary/Compensations
- $43.05 hourly to $50.65 hourly
