About the Role

Imagine playing a central role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada’s busiest public transit system and doing so with a consistently ranked Top Employer with a global reach. As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles. The GO Expansion scope includes new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that all track access requirements are planned and delivered in compliance with Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure track access requirements are planned and delivered in compliance with Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR)
  • Work closely with teams across the business (such as sub-system teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners)
  • Monitor administrative authorizations
  • Manage stakeholder requirements through regular meetings and communication
  • Coordinate worksite activities
  • Book worksites through the Metrolinx Network Access Planning Tool (NAPT) system
  • Manage work area handovers
  • Assist with administrative applications
  • Maintain compliance with safety and operational standards
  • Identify and process administrative authorizations required for work execution
  • Support sub-system teams in preparing application forms for authorizations
  • Monitor the delivery and validity of administrative authorizations
  • Attend weekly customer meetings to address issues and stakeholder requirements
  • Identify and manage coordination issues between subsystems or stakeholders
  • Document work area handovers and address any identified snags
  • Assess progress of works against the schedule
  • Coordinate the implementation of the 4M process
  • Identify and report Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) hazards
  • Coordinate concurrent activities and issue daily reports
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to deconflict and optimize track access
  • Support the Track Access Manager in ensuring compliance with CROR and General Engineering Instructions (GEI)
  • Sign track staff in and out of sites, verify certifications, and ensure proper PPE usage
  • Communicate progress updates to management and worksite staff
  • Log and report safety-critical information, including accidents and incidents
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Alstom, Metrolinx, and third-party planning teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (mandatory)
  • 2-3 years of railway experience (mandatory)
  • Awareness of risk assessment processes
  • Commercial awareness
  • Awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to make critical decisions based on evidence
  • Organizational and delegation skills
  • Numeracy and literacy skills
  • PTS training (desirable)
