About the Role
The Senior FP&A Analyst will contribute to delivering the planned Operating Expense Ratio, assisting with the management of Global cost centres and allocation models, analysis of group allocations, consolidation and analysis of regional expenses, and development of expense reporting and MI to drive improved business decisions. The individual will play an important role in implementing and maintaining scalable expense analysis to drive efficiency and automation. The role will incorporate consolidation and analysis of regional P&Ls within the division, including responsibility for materials to support SEC reporting and quarterly earnings calls. There will be a focus on building out the analysis and reporting, requiring a mindset focused on systems, processes, and data. Previous experience of expense management and analytics, as well as full P&L analytics, in the insurance or financial services sector is required.
Responsibilities
- Work with cost centre owners throughout the annual planning cycle to set expense budgets, including headcount and other associated staff costs.
- Manage the P&L impact, working with IT and business stakeholders to understand and manage capital expenditure and the associated depreciation and amortisation.
- Collate necessary information to generate complete and timely expense accruals during the close process.
- Produce variance analysis for cost centre owners and business leaders to understand variances against plan, including setting and monitoring KPIs.
- Develop commentary to explain variances and produce expense MI for management to explain expense ratios by region, business, product, and function.
- Scrutinise the ledger and work with the central Finance Operations team to understand end-to-end expense accounting.
- Support efforts to develop robust expense modelling and reporting frameworks, including the enhancement of Anaplan.
- Support the business to understand the financial implications of their decisions, and drive both strategic and tactical thinking.
- Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
- Work with regional teams to ensure a strong understanding of allocations.
- Perform consolidated regional P&L analysis with commentary as required to provide supporting materials for SEC reporting and quarterly earnings calls.
- Contribute to ad hoc financial projects as required as part of the overall finance function.
Requirements
- Experience of P&L planning and analytics, as well an understanding of cost centre and profit centre structures, is required.
- Previous experience of expense management and analytics, as well as full P&L analytics, in the insurance or financial services sector is required.
