About the Role

The University of Rochester is seeking a Physical Therapist to aid patients in correcting or adjusting to disabilities through specialized physical therapy procedures. This role involves evaluating patient abilities, planning treatment programs, and instructing patients and families on equipment use and home adaptations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients' functional abilities and disabilities using tests, observations, and information from various sources.
  • Plans patient treatment programs based on diagnosis, prognosis, emotional needs, and patient environment, following physician's orders.
  • Instructs and counsels patients and families on equipment use and techniques, and evaluates home facilities for necessary adaptations.
  • Recommends, obtains, and instructs on the use of adaptive and assistive devices, ensuring safety practices and equipment maintenance.
  • Determines therapy types and frequencies, provides treatments, and recommends program modifications to the physician.
  • Maintains required patient and department records.
  • Stays updated on field issues and changes through reading and professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy required.
  • Completed relevant clinical education in a comparable setting required.
  • Licensed in New York State required.

Skills

  • Basic foundational knowledge of Physical Therapy Practice required.
