About the Role

This entry-level position within the reserving team of the actuarial function is responsible for delivering actuarial services across TMHCC's International segment. The role offers exposure to senior actuaries and various actuarial teams across London, Luxembourg, and Houston.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all aspects of the reserving process, including periodic reviews of reserves for multiple lines of business through appropriate application of actuarial loss reserving techniques.
  • Liaise with the claims, finance, and underwriting teams as necessary.
  • Deliver Solvency II technical provisions and related regulatory/Lloyd's returns.
  • Calibrate key model variables and parameters.
  • Assist with the completion of regulatory returns.
  • Analyze reserve and underwriting risk parameters to support the quantification of key inputs to the internal capital model.
  • Collaborate with members of other teams across the company to improve processes and enhance the reputation of the actuarial team.
  • Gain a greater understanding of a wide range of different insurance lines of business.
  • Assist with ensuring work is compliant with both internal and external governance.
  • Ensure documentation is current and that latest regulation is promptly incorporated.
  • Develop and produce management information and metrics to enhance ongoing communication with the business.
  • Attend and participate in training and events to increase the intellectual capital of the actuarial team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Intention to commence / continue study towards IFoA Actuarial Qualification.
  • Actuarial exams / exemptions not required but preferable.
  • No experience is required but up to one year of practical actuarial experience would be considered, preferably in general insurance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office package software (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Programming aptitude / experience – VBA, SQL, Python or R, including basic application of macros, is an advantage.
