About the Role

The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the environmental health program, including conducting inspections, gathering information for compliance, and staying current with environmental health advancements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs on-site inspections and evaluates premises with public health significance.
  • Determines environmental conditions of the community.
  • Studies refuse collection and disposal needs and makes recommendations.
  • Inspects food preparation and serving facilities and reports recommendations.
  • Assists authorities in assuring adequate sanitation facilities for community functions.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with state, county, and local agencies.
  • Develops and participates in community education programs.
  • Submits monthly statistical and narrative reports.
  • Manages federal and state grant-funded programs.
  • Travels regularly to both territories to perform job duties.
  • Upholds and promotes the values and integrity of the Seneca Nation Health System’s mission statement.
  • Works through a trauma-informed lens, incorporating key principles of safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Attends all mandatory staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Follows all policies and procedures of the department, Seneca Nation, and Seneca Nation Health System.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Must have transportation available for use.
  • Must clear a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass a required Federal Fingerprint Background Investigation.
