About the Role

Support all portfolio underwriting activities, underwrite allocated renewal accounts across a diversified multi-line portfolio, and execute strategies to achieve business plan KPIs. Develop expert judgment through collaboration with experienced stakeholders to build technical expertise in specific classes of business. Maintain and improve market reputation by working closely with brokers. Support management information and financial reporting. Train team underwriting assistants and operations personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage underwriting and post-bind account management of allocated accounts.
  • Act as a second or third underwriter on target development product lines.
  • Develop a clear understanding of underwriting parameters and policy.
  • Gain underwriting knowledge and experience from senior stakeholders.
  • Identify new business opportunities aligned with risk appetite.
  • Monitor portfolio KPIs and discuss necessary corrective measures with stakeholders.
  • Comply with Beazley’s underwriting control standards.
  • Develop strong working relationships with the claims team.
  • Maintain good working relationships with facility brokers and external clients.
  • Train future Underwriting Assistants and operations personnel for business continuity.
  • Support the maintenance of all business process guides.
  • Manage and perform ad hoc projects, taking responsibility for their delivery.
  • Become an expert user of the SMARTIE Analytics Tool and support team members in its effective use.
  • Proactively support tool enhancement and identify data deficiencies.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and strategic alignment with other Beazley underwriting teams.
  • Share and gather knowledge within the Beazley Group to disseminate best practices and maximize opportunities and profitability.
  • Produce presentations and marketing literature as required.
  • Produce business plans/research documents for the BST account as required.
  • Adhere to Beazley's core values and behaviors (PIED and Being Beazley) in all interactions.

  • Comply with Beazley procedures, policies, and regulations, including the code of conduct.

  • Carry out additional responsibilities as notified through objectives or the learning management system.

Requirements

  • Solid experience of Insurance (London Market preferred).
  • Experience in working in cross-functional groups.
  • Experience working alongside actuaries.
  • Experience in liaising with peer group and senior staff internally and externally.

Education Level

  • Graduate level / Bachelor’s Degree education preferred
