About the Role

As a Category Manager for books, you will independently manage and develop book categories with a focus on growth, market trends, and profitability within a dynamic e-commerce agency.

Responsibilities

  • Steer and develop book categories to drive growth and profitability.
  • Evaluate new releases, backlist titles, and themes based on demand and performance.
  • Manage orders and ensure product availability in coordination with internal teams.
  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor performance to optimize results.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with publishers and suppliers.
  • Identify new business opportunities.
  • Continuously improve revenue and margins through data-driven decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in purchasing, category management, product management, or similar commercial roles.
  • Experience in the book, publishing, media, or e-commerce industry.
  • Strong understanding of the book market.
  • Ability to evaluate, list, and manage book assortments in online retail.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in handling performance and market data.
  • Structured, diligent, and independent working style.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with publishers and internal stakeholders.
  • Fluency in German and strong English skills.
  • Experience with Amazon FBA or marketplace e-commerce is a plus.
