About the Role

As the Head of Occupational Safety at BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH, you will lead and develop the occupational safety team, ensuring compliance and promoting a strong safety culture. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and disciplinary leadership and development for the occupational safety team.
  • Advise and support management and employees on all aspects of occupational safety and accident prevention.
  • Conduct and coordinate inspections, controls, and compliance checks.
  • Participate in internal audits to verify compliance with safety regulations.
  • Manage measures to prevent work accidents and occupational diseases.
  • Investigate incidents and implement effective preventive measures.
  • Promote safety awareness and a safety culture through best practices and effective communication.
  • Continuously develop and manage central occupational safety systems, including e-learning and risk assessment tools.
  • Develop and enhance processes, standards, training concepts, and digital solutions in occupational safety.
  • Undertake central technical and coordinating tasks in occupational safety.
  • Actively participate in internal and external committees and working groups.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed technical, scientific, or engineering university degree, ideally with a focus on occupational, health, safety, or environmental protection.
  • Qualification as an occupational safety specialist (SiFa) according to the German Occupational Safety Act (ASiG) and DGUV Regulation 2.
  • Several years of relevant professional experience and sound knowledge in operational occupational and health protection, ideally in an industrial, technical, or energy industry environment.
  • Experience in technical or disciplinary leadership of employees, including their development and advancement.
  • Strong social, advisory, and communication skills.
  • Confident and appropriate demeanor when addressing different audiences.
  • Ability to effectively reconcile diverse interests through constructive collaboration.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire people at various levels regarding occupational safety issues.
  • Quick comprehension, analytical thinking, and a structured, solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to maintain an overview even with complex issues.
  • Approximately 70% of the requirements are sufficient for application.
