About the Role
The Direct Support Professional assists in providing self-care training, therapeutic treatments, and assistance in daily living to developmentally disabled individuals attending the agency's respite facility. The Arc Madison Cortland is a non-profit agency dedicated to supporting people with special needs and empowering the individuals we serve.
Responsibilities
- Must stay awake and not place themselves in a compromising position/place that is conducive to sleep.
- Continuously assess the status of the physical building and the individuals throughout the duration of the shift.
- Provides individualized care as outlined in the individuals Life Plan, or ISP.
- Supports the residents to ensure their safety and well being.
- Observes, documents and communicates pertinent information such as behaviors, nursing, nutrition, clinical issues, etc., to facilitate assessment and development of treatment goals.
- In the residential program, staff provide 24-hour supervision, care, and guidance to residents.
- Assist with personal care needs, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities.

- High school diploma or GED.
