About the Role
The Social Media Manager will support the operation of the J.League’s international YouTube channel (English language), driving the international growth of this exciting, fast-growing, and globally recognised sports brand. The role focuses on leading day-to-day content output and ideation across YouTube, briefing editors and designers to produce best-in-class content.
Responsibilities
- Act as the day-to-day lead in ensuring all channel activity adheres to the core YouTube strategy and editorial principles.
- Oversee the YouTube channel, managing a high-cadence publishing schedule.
- Drive performance through expert titling, thumbnails, and the strategic use of all platform features to maximise watch time and viewer retention.
- Leverage analytics to monitor channel health, track performance, and provide real-time actionable insights to shape future content decisions.
Requirements
- Weekend and out-of-hours work will be needed in line with the J.League fixture list.
- Current knowledge of the latest YouTube algorithms, publishing tools, and best practices for driving long-form watch time and short-form reach.
- An eye for identifying authentic hooks and the ability to editorialise high-profile sporting content for a YouTube-first audience.
- The ability to manage live content workflows, live streams and geo-policies within YouTube.
- Experience managing YouTube channels, with a demonstrated ability to drive subscriber viewership and deeper engagement.
- Deep expertise in using platform analytics to drive editorial decisions, specifically focusing on audience retention graphs, average view duration, and click-through rate (CTR) optimisation.
- Previous experience using WSC Sports is desirable.
