About the Role

Stand is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Property Inspector to join its growing inspection team. This field-forward, independent role involves conducting physical inspections of high-value, wildfire-exposed homes across California and other states. You will assess structural and fire resilience, document replacement costs, and deliver findings to inform underwriting decisions. The role requires strong judgment, professionalism with high-profile clientele, and the ability to manage a dynamic workload.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical inspections of high-value, wildfire-exposed homes across California and other states.
  • Assess structural and fire resilience characteristics.
  • Document replacement cost components.
  • Deliver findings that directly inform underwriting decisions.

Requirements

  • Proven background in residential property inspection, construction, or a related field.
  • Experience estimating replacement costs on high-value custom homes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with high-net-worth homeowners, brokers, and estate managers.
  • Ability to assess wildfire and structural risk factors including defensible space, construction materials, roof and vent conditions, and foundation type.
  • Self-directed and organized — comfortable managing a full inspection workload with minimal oversight.
  • Adaptable and open to evolving workflows, proprietary tools, and new standards as Stand's inspection program develops.
  • Ability to juggle multiple active inspections, deadlines, and cross-functional communication at once.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Stand does not sponsor new work visas.
  • Can consider candidates on TN visas, O-1A visas, or H-1B transfers with three years or more remaining.

About the Company

  • At Stand, you’ll help build a new class of global property protection using advanced physics and AI to model catastrophic risk at the asset level, then automate underwriting and mitigation before loss occurs.
  • Insurance is simply the current delivery mechanism. The real product is a scalable risk engine, our Stand World Model.
  • Stand stays when traditional insurers exit, models what others approximate, and builds systems that change outcomes, not just prices.
  • Our leadership team includes former successful founders and CEOs from Metromile, PolicyGenius, WePay, and HotelTonight, bringing deep experience in building and scaling high-growth companies.
  • The property insurance industry is built to price loss after it happens, relying on coarse proxies, backward-looking data, and manual processes, then accepts damage as unavoidable.
  • Stand takes a different approach by simulating how real-world catastrophes affect individual properties, translating that into actionable decisions, and automating the business around it.
  • The result is a platform that can underwrite what others can’t and operate with far less friction.

Equal Opportunity

  • Stand is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
  • We believe that diversity enriches the workplace, and we are committed to growing our team with the most talented and passionate people from every community.
  • We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals.
  • Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
