About the Role
The New York Foundling is seeking a Clinical leader to provide nursing staff oversight within the Developmental Disabilities Division. This role ensures high-quality, person-centered health services, compliance with regulations, and fosters clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct supervision and support to nursing staff, promoting clinical competence, professionalism, and accountability.
- Conducts performance evaluations and fosters staff development through mentoring and targeted training.
- Ensures compliance with OPWDD regulations and NYF policies through regular audits, staff training, and corrective action plans.
- Monitors fidelity to clinical protocols and verifies documentation aligns with regulatory standards.
- Manages the implementation of medical interventions to improve health outcomes and quality of life.
- Reviews and analyzes health trends to identify areas for improvement and mitigate health risks.
- Ensures timely, accurate, and comprehensive health-related documentation by nursing and interdisciplinary teams.
- Conducts regular audits of health records to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manages compliance of health services records for appropriate documentation.
- Develops and implements strategies to improve health information accessibility and integrity.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop and review person-centered care plans.
- Provides medical expertise to internal oversight committees (ICC, HRC, IRC).
- Leads ongoing medication reviews for all persons supported.
- Ensures pharmacological treatments are safe, effective, and appropriately managed.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a developmental disabilities, residential, or community-based setting (OPWDD experience strongly preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare or human services environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage and support nursing staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, residential staff, families, and external providers
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, monitor care quality, and ensure timely follow-through on medical needs
