About the Role

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing specific Rail System projects across all corridor(s), working closely with design leads, engineers, and team members to ensure successful project execution. They will develop project plans, coordinate design activities, monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of the design scope, serving as the main point of contact for project communication and coordination with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for efficient delivery of Electrification Traction Power projects, including preliminary design, detailed design, contract document preparation, construction, contract management, and testing and commissioning.
  • Manages in-market activities during project design phase, including contractor requests for information and review submittals.
  • Manages value engineering, risk assessment, life cycle costing, earned value, and constructability reviews.
  • Prioritizes work for minimum disruption to operational efficiency to maintain consistent customer service and integrates with third-party works.
  • Reviews and monitors progress toward project objectives, including engineering, design standards, technical specifications, technical and operational requirements, document control, budget, work breakdown structures, project schedules, resource prioritization, and staffing.
  • Monitors contractors’ construction and design plans and schedules for completeness, workability, and compliance with contract documents.
  • Oversees contractor compliance with contract provisions, safety, quality, environmental, budgeted costs, and schedule performance.
  • Provides strategic oversight of program performance, identifying issues early and driving timely resolution.
  • Leads a team of technical experts, support staff, and project managers for efficient program delivery.
  • Acts as the primary client representative, managing key interfaces with contractors and delivery partners to ensure alignment on scope, priorities, program, risk, governance, and delivery outcomes.
  • Leads commercial and contractual management, including contract strategy, change control, and claims, while driving a collaborative delivery culture that protects the client’s commercial and strategic interests.

Requirements

  • A university degree in Engineering from a recognized university or any combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in capital project management and implementation.
  • Experience managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects in an operational environment, for signalling and train control systems and related works will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices, including budget and schedule controls, to lead and direct cross-functional teams and consultants, ensuring adherence to timelines and project performance objectives.
  • Experience with vendor management to manage development and delivery of externally/internally provided products and services.
