About the Role
The Medical Assistant supports patient examination and treatment under the direction of an urgent care provider. This role manages the check-in and registration process, performs clinical intake including vital signs, collects laboratory specimens, and maintains treatment areas to ensure an effortless patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient check-in, registration, and insurance verification
- Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
- Coordinate provider referrals to specialists
- Interview patients to record medical history and confirm visit purpose
- Measure and record vital signs including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height
- Perform point of care testing such as flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG
- Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, front desk, and reception areas
- Manage medical records and scan charts into patient files
- Monitor supply inventory levels and check expiration dates
- Perform opening and closing duties including cashing out and securing the building
- Maintain equipment quality assurance logs and perform preventive maintenance
- Conduct courtesy follow-up calls to patients
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from ARC or AHA at time of hire
- CPOE certification for order entry within two weeks of start date
- Must hold or obtain an approved Medical Assistant certification within 15 months of start date
- Approved certifications include CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA
- Alternative qualifications include 1+ years of MA or phlebotomy experience, or being a graduate of an accredited Nursing, LPN, RN, EMT, or CNA program

- Monthly incentive pay based on performance metrics
