About the Role

Join NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center as a Section Chief Laboratory Technologist in the Specialty Lab. This full-time, day shift position focuses on Special Chemistry and Serology, where you will conduct routine and complex tests, troubleshoot instruments, perform quality control, and lead other technologists. You will also calibrate and maintain lab instrumentation, conduct validation studies, and research new procedures to improve laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine and complex tests on clinical specimens
Perform assays for Immunosuppressive Drug Testing (ISD), Electrophoresis, Fetal Defect Markers, Sweat Chloride, and Kappa Lambda testing
Serve as a lead to other Laboratory Technologists
Troubleshoot instruments and methods
Perform all quality control procedures
Assist in the evaluation of new equipment, reagents and methodologies
Calibrate and maintain lab instrumentation
Conduct validation studies
Research and establish new procedures to improve laboratory operations

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience or 2 years of clinical laboratory experience with Master’s degree or 1 year of experience with a MD, DO or doctoral degree in a chemical, physical or biological science
Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or equivalent curriculum unless credentials are grandfathered in as life experience
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department
Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP
