About the Role

The Department of City Planning (DCP) plans for the future of New York City. The new Citywide Address Assignment Team (CAAT) is responsible for supporting all official address assignments and verifications for new and existing buildings across the five boroughs. This role will support the team in designing a new, citywide address process, receiving and processing address requests, disseminating information, providing customer service, and coordinating with other agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Execute address assignment functions where accuracy and attention to detail are central to service delivery.
  • Provide relevant customer service support to constituents, homeowners, developers, agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Research, analyze, validate, correct, maintain and update geographic data files using related spatial data, imagery, and other resources.
  • Map individual addresses in geospatial databases.
  • Perform quality assurance of data files.
  • Document and innovate work procedures and methodologies.
  • Execute geographic processing programs, coordinate data releases, and publish datasets.
  • Conduct occasional field work and site visits for research purposes.
  • Communicate with customer/client/user requests.
  • Act as data liaison to other city agencies.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.
  • Must meet all minimum qualifying requirements at the time of application.

Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing data records, using geospatial data, such as maps, to conduct research, and coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Strong research, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, meet deadlines, and keep supervisory staff informed.
  • Ability to master complex data systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with geospatial data.
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing data using SQL and/or Python is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in modernizing and automating procedures and processes while maintaining data quality.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team and collaborate on projects.
  • Interest in urban planning and knowledge of NYC geography and data is a plus.
  • Experience reviewing architectural plans.
  • Prior experience assigning addresses at a borough level is a plus.

Work Type

  • Remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.

Experience Level

  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing data records, using geospatial data, such as maps, to conduct research, and coordinating with stakeholders.

Education Level

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and six months of satisfactory full-time experience in research
  • An associate degree from an accredited college, or completion of 60 semester credits at an accredited college, and two years and six months of satisfactory full-time experience in research
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years and six months of satisfactory full-time experience in research
  • Education and experience equivalent to the above
  • Undergraduate college credit can be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of full-time experience.
  • Completion of nine credits, at the college or graduate school level, in statistics, quantitative methods, mathematics, or research can be substituted for six months of the required experience.
  • All candidates must possess a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least six months of required experience or the nine specialized credits.

  • USD 52791 - USD 79882 - yearly
