About the Role

The Assistant Director supports the Director of the Citywide Address Assignment Team in managing address assignments, verifications, and database maintenance for New York City. This role involves leading staff, overseeing complex development projects, improving process efficiencies, and acting as a liaison for city agencies and constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director in leading a team of Senior City Map Coordinators, City Map Coordinators, and administrative staff.
  • Oversee address assignment requests for large-scale, complex developments across the five boroughs.
  • Design, manage, and maintain an accurate database of new and existing address assignments.
  • Manage projects to improve data quality and process efficiencies.
  • Innovate work procedures, document systems and workflows, and develop training materials.
  • Execute geographic processing programs, coordinate data releases, and publish datasets.
  • Act as a liaison for city agencies, external partners, and constituents.
  • Build strong, cohesive teams and integrate new staff.
  • Supervise and track staff project progress to ensure goals are met.
  • Provide guidance and constructive feedback, including performance appraisals.
  • Ensure staff compliance with citywide and agency policies.
  • Manage and outline work programs for teams.
  • Oversee internal and external stakeholder engagement and outreach.
  • Provide strategic and policy direction through research and analytics.

Requirements

  • Permanent Civil Service status in the Administrative Manager title, reachable on the Administrative Manager active list (exam #1195), or serving in a comparable civil service title.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Baccalaureate degree and four years of progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including 18 months in a supervisory capacity.
  • Associate degree or 60 semester credits and five years of progressively responsible experience, including 18 months in a supervisory capacity.
  • Four-year high school diploma and six years of progressively responsible experience, including 18 months in a supervisory capacity.
  • Supervisory experience must involve staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty.
