About the Role

Reporting to the Chef de Partie, this role is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items for buffet and restaurant outlets while ensuring strict adherence to specifications. The position focuses on maintaining a safe, welcoming environment, multi-tasking in a fast-paced setting, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all menu items according to strict ingredient and recipe specifications
  • Ensure high-caliber food service for guests
  • Maintain inventory levels
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for kitchen procedures
  • Create and cost daily specials
  • Direct the line and ensure shift success
  • Setup, stock, and tear down buffet stations
  • Prepare salads, sandwiches, dressings, sauces, vegetables, and fruits
  • Reheat soups, crock pots, and gravies
  • Collaborate with kitchen personnel to prepare hot and cold appetizers
  • Assist Cook 1 with meat, seafood, and raw food preparation
  • Assist with catering and special event food preparation
  • Comply with food safety regulations and maintain accurate temperature logs
  • Control food waste and spoilage
  • Restock items as needed
  • Clean and sanitize workstations
  • Inspect work areas and report hazards or defective equipment
  • Comply with health and safety requirements and use PPE
  • Report injuries, accidents, and unusual conditions to the Chef de Partie
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Minimum three years of kitchen experience
  • Minimum one year of experience in a casino environment
  • Completion of Safe Food Handling course or certificate
  • Strong knife handling skills
  • Knowledge of HACCP
  • Smart Serve Certified
  • WHMIS trained
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check
