About the Role

The Camp Parkwood Counselor/Group Leader creates a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for campers. This position leads and supervises a group of campers, facilitates daily activities, and fosters personal growth, teamwork, and positive social interactions. The counselor acts as a mentor and role model, ensuring campers feel valued and included while promoting camp values and safety protocols. The role contributes to the overall success of Camp Parkwood by delivering an enriching and enjoyable camp experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a group of campers throughout daily camp activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational, educational, and team-building activities tailored to the campers' interests and abilities.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm, fostering a supportive and inclusive camp culture.
  • Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and camp staff to address concerns, provide updates, and support camper development.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies or behavioral issues, following established camp policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting (Group Leaders).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check and comply with all camp safety standards.
