About the Role
As a Dispatcher, communication is essential as you will be the person spotting threats before they escalate at a post-secondary educational institute.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming emergency and non-emergency calls from community and non-community members.
- Initiate the appropriate response promptly including connecting and transferring the caller to the right person.
- Operate various computerized communication devices and associated equipment to receive, assess, and relay information from the public to security personnel in a courteous, professional, and expedient manner.
- Remain calm under pressure and multitask during high call volumes from telephone and radio communications.
- Prioritize and dispatch accordingly.
- Problem-solve on the go utilizing tools and training acquired.
Requirements
- Authorized to work in Canada.
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification (WSIB Approved).
- Ability to commit to Full-Time 12-hour continental rotation schedule (Monday - Sunday including days & nights).
- Working knowledge of Criminal Code and Trespass to Property Act enforcement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong documentation and report-writing abilities.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, Google Suite).
- Previous dispatch experience (an asset).
