About the Role
As a Weighbridge Operator, you will be instrumental in pushing for innovative solutions to create a more sustainable future. Your role is crucial in helping our communities, looking after the environment, and contributing to our inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
- Operating the weighbridge to weigh vehicles entering and exiting the site, ensuring all weights are captured accurately.
- Recording and storing all required information correctly, including waste types (codes) and supporting paperwork.
- Controlling vehicle entry and exit to maintain safe traffic flow and ensure only compliant loads/materials are accepted.
- Checking for and escalating non-compliant loads, including contamination and overweight vehicles, in line with site procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance: wearing correct PPE and keeping the weighbridge/working area clean and tidy.
- Reporting service, safety and environmental issues promptly to your line manager, and stopping work immediately if a task is unsafe.
- Reporting any offers of bribery in line with company policy.
Requirements
- A strong safety-first mindset, with the confidence to stop work and escalate concerns when something isn’t safe.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when recording weights, waste codes and paperwork.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with drivers, colleagues and supervisors professionally and clearly.
- Good time management and the ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-moving environment.
- A team-focused attitude and willingness to support the wider operations team on site.
- Administration experience is desirable, with basic confidence using systems to input and maintain records.
- Flexibility and reliability to work a shift-based role, including 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
