About the Role

As a Liquid Financing Business Control Officer VP at Barclays, you will be a key player in the first line of defense, ensuring effective risk management oversight for the NY Liquid Financing business. You will partner with support functions to identify, assess, and remediate issues, maintain compliance with regulatory and internal frameworks, support regulatory change, guide audits, and provide governance advisory services. You will drive continuous improvement in control design and operational resilience, leveraging your equities and risk knowledge to guide control execution in a dynamic market.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the integrity and effectiveness of the bank's internal control framework to support risk mitigation and protect operational, financial, and reputational risk.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve control effectiveness through documentation of assessments, procedures, and findings.
  • Identify and investigate potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls for continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Develop reports communicating key findings, control weaknesses, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Execute reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework against policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Implement adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and assess controls against it.
  • Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements.
  • Advise key stakeholders on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, supporting the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of organization functions to contribute to business goals.
  • Collaborate with other work areas for business-aligned support.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought.
  • Adopt and include outcomes of extensive research in problem-solving processes.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory change action.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in Liquid Financing with a preference for the Fixed Income Financing business.
  • Knowledge of risk and control frameworks.
  • Experience dealing with regulatory requirements and audit processes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, issue tracking, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to support and implement governance and control improvements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage across all organizational levels.
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset combined with critical thinking skills.
