About the Role
Confluent Medical Technologies is seeking a Senior Process Engineering Technician in Austin, TX, to collaborate with customers, develop new manufacturing processes, and optimize existing ones. This role involves training other technicians, supporting engineering efforts, and ensuring products meet world-class standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop new process parameters, tooling, and manufacturing methods.
- Train technicians and operators on assembly techniques, inspection methods, and documentation.
- Streamline processes to meet manufacturing build time, cost, and yield targets.
- Optimize process parameters for equipment such as hot boxes, braiders, coil winders, laminators, ovens, UV adhesive light welders, and laser welders.
- Verify component specifications through benchtop, functional, and load testing.
- Generate work instructions, test methods, and visual standards.
- Support Design of Experiments (DOE) by collecting and analyzing data.
- Communicate issues to engineering for continuous improvement.
- Create spreadsheets for data organization, collection, and trend presentation.
- Generate written summaries of data with observations.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) with cost and lead time estimates for tooling/equipment.
- Provide input to technical discussions and communicate basic data evaluation.
- Troubleshoot moderately complex issues on new processes, methods, equipment, and tooling.
- Drive document changes through the quality management system.
- Adjust and modify processes, methods, equipment, and tooling for new applications.
- Follow good manufacturing practices (GMP), including line clearance, work instructions, and lot travelers.
- Design and modify simple fixtures, tooling, and work holding using SolidWorks.
- Create and maintain basic engineering drawings for fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids.
- Assist engineers with prototype builds, root cause investigations, and process development.
- Independently identify problems, develop solutions, and implement process improvements with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- High school diploma with some college and a minimum of 8 years of directly related experience.
- Demonstrated ability with standard and challenging processes, methods, equipment, and tooling related to catheter manufacturing.
- Ability to troubleshoot moderately complex issues on existing processes, methods, equipment, and tooling.
- Extremely hands-on with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify process/documentation errors and quality concerns.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand inspection requirements.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of polymer materials, catheter processing equipment, and manufacturing processes.
- General knowledge of Braiding, Adhesive Bonding, Lamination, Die Bonding, Machining, Injection Molding, Laser Welding, and 3D Printing.
- Knowledge of good manufacturing principles (GMP).
- Attention to detail, professional attitude, team player.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel for organizing, analyzing, and presenting manufacturing data.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers, other technicians, and production personnel.
