About the Role

Meriwether Godsey is seeking a Full-time Cook to prepare, cook, and present daily meals and special events at a private men's college in Farmville, VA. This role is crucial for maintaining high standards of food quality and safety within the dining services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and portion large quantities of various food items.
• Prepare items in batches close to serving time to ensure quality.
• Follow recipes and recommend improvements.
• Cook, maintain, and store foods at required temperatures.
• Record temperatures and follow food handling and sanitation standards.
• Maintain records of production, attendance, and leftovers for forecasting.
• Assist with organization and sanitation of storage areas.
• Attend daily production meetings and provide input.
• Perform all duties according to food safety and sanitation best practices.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience as a restaurant line and contract dining cook preferred.
• ServSafe® Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Experience with high-volume food service operations, preferably in school environments.
• Ability to measure products and convert units of measure.
• High levels of professionalism, strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to switch between locations and job duties.
• Growing knowledge of sustainable practices.
