About the Role
Cloud Engineering owns the foundations of Capital on Tap's global engineering effort, focusing on core infrastructure, tooling, and standards. The role involves pushing the technical limits of cloud infrastructure and driving AI adoption within the team.
Responsibilities
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, providing meaningful mentorship and constructive feedback.
- Drive team performance by resolving bottlenecks, fostering accountability, and sustaining high engagement.
- Drive the adoption of AI within the team for daily operations and large-scale projects.
- Foster open, transparent communication across remote, hybrid, and in-person environments.
- Stay hands-on in cloud engineering, leading by example at a technical level.
- Define and enforce cloud engineering best practices for consistency, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and QA to align strategy and execute outcomes.
- Contribute to product decisions with a cloud perspective, balancing speed, quality, and scalability.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become blockers.
- Embed DevSecOps principles, ensuring security, monitoring, compliance, and automation are integrated from the start.
Requirements
- A track record of leading and delivering complex projects.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with the ability to own the full management remit.
- Extensive experience managing public cloud environments.
- Proficient in contributing to IaC technologies, including writing, managing, and optimizing infrastructure with tools like Terraform.
- Experience using CI/CD tools, building pipelines, templates, and troubleshooting.
- Experience applying high availability across cloud architectures, ideally including multi-cloud.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
- A customer-focused, commercially aware, and data-informed approach to decision-making.
- Ability to manage cross-team dependencies and collaborate effectively with Platform, SRE, Product, and other stakeholders.
