About the Role

Turner & Townsend is seeking Cost Managers and Senior Cost Managers to join the Health, Science & Education team within the London Real Estate business. These roles will support the delivery of a Life Sciences project and may also provide opportunities to work across healthcare, education, and science sectors. The London Cost Management Health team delivers cost management services across a range of public and private sector projects, including refurbishment schemes and large-scale healthcare developments. The team forms part of a broader Health, Education & Science practice, enabling professionals to gain experience across multiple sectors. Turner & Townsend provides consultancy services to organisations within the Health, Science & Education sectors, supporting clients through all stages of project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver cost management services across the full project lifecycle or contribute as part of a wider project team on larger or more complex projects.
  • Support the achievement of client objectives through effective cost management from pre-contract stages through to project handover.
  • Prepare estimates and cost plans, including the development and presentation of final cost plans.
  • Manage tendering and procurement activities, including pre-qualification, tender documentation, tender analysis, reporting and preparation of contract documentation.
  • Manage post-contract cost variations and change control processes, escalating significant changes where appropriate.
  • Undertake cost checks and valuations, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports.
  • Contribute to value engineering activities.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants and project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Provide guidance and coordination for junior members of the cost management team to support project delivery.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of, or experience working within, the healthcare and/or education sectors.
  • Experience supporting projects through all stages, from feasibility to completion.
  • Experience working on projects procured through two-stage tendering.
  • Familiarity with JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • Experience working directly with clients and project stakeholders in a cost management capacity.
  • Understanding of the risks, challenges and opportunities relevant to public sector healthcare organisations.
  • Experience preparing and presenting monthly post-contract cost reports.
  • Experience managing procurement activities, including pre-qualification, tender enquiry, tender analysis, supplier selection and contract preparation.
  • Ability to negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Knowledge of contract administration, value engineering and lifecycle costing.
  • Experience using CostX or similar measurement software.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
  • Experience of working in Education sector projects would be advantageous.
