About the Role

The Patient Service Representative I provides exemplary customer service to patients via phone and in person. This role coordinates clerical tasks, manages patient intake and checkout, handles scheduling, and ensures seamless communication between clerical and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet patients and visitors
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk area
  • Register new patients and update existing demographics
  • Collect co-payments, deductibles, and outstanding balances
  • Obtain required referrals and authorizations
  • Scan faxes, consents, and reports into patient charts
  • Generate daily batch transmittal reports
  • Facilitate patient flow and communicate delays to staff and patients
  • Schedule follow-up services and office visits
  • Respond to inquiries in a courteous manner
  • Manage office supply inventory and equipment
  • Protect patient confidentiality and secure PHI
  • Ensure proper hand-off of responsibilities
  • Maintain punctual attendance
  • Support cultural diversity initiatives
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of medical records

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-3 years of customer service experience
  • Adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, and CMS compliance guidelines
