About the Role
Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are forward-thinking professionals who maintain legacy assets and deliver new systems and solutions. This role involves developing safe, cost-effective electronic equipment engineering solutions and providing technical support, with a focus on analogue electronic design and repair for legacy rolling stock and signalling systems. Responsibilities
- Developing safe, cost-effective electronic equipment engineering solutions across the organisation.
- Providing technical support to operations and projects requiring specialist electronics expertise.
- Supporting legacy rolling stock and signalling systems used on London Underground.
- Designing bespoke test equipment for legacy assets.
- Diagnosing faults on complex electronic systems, occasionally without design documentation.
- Designing and building bespoke test equipment to test legacy electronic systems and assets.
- Delivering projects through the complete life cycle, from concept to operational service.
- Sharing electronics knowledge and guiding other engineers on system design, build, and implementation.
- Conducting reactive repair, reverse engineering, and failure investigation.
- Designing and approving new systems.
Requirements
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of modern and legacy system design with emphasis on analogue electronics.
- Good understanding of electronic components, their use, and failure modes.
- Good understanding of electronics design in safety-critical applications.
- Proven experience of design and maintenance of complex electronics and electrical systems.
- Basic knowledge of rolling stock and signalling system safety concepts, and practical methods to maintain system safety.
- Willingness to share electronics knowledge and guide other engineers.
- Ability to demonstrate right to work in the UK.
- Honest and accurate information provided during the application process.
