About the Role

The Assistant Director of Camps & Enrichment Programs is responsible for the development, execution, and financial success of all university-hosted camp and enrichment programs. This role involves building innovative programs, driving revenue, and managing operations and compliance for both day and residential camps. The position enhances the University's visibility, strengthens community engagement, and generates auxiliary revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and implement a diverse portfolio of high-quality year-round youth enrichment and camp programs.
  • Meet and exceed sales deliverables, enrollment targets, and profit-margin goals.
  • Develop and scale a robust residential camp model to maximize housing and dining revenue.
  • Stay on top of industry best practices, market trends, and competitor offerings.
  • Partner with Academic Affairs, Athletics, Housing, Dining, and Facilities to secure resources and integrate faculty into academic camps.
  • Ensure all programs comply with university policies, state/federal regulations, childcare licensing laws, and strict safety standards for minors on campus.
  • Manage the department's P&L, optimize operational budgets, and implement data-driven pricing strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with academic departments, Athletics, school districts, community organizations, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to promote programs and increase participation.
  • Represent the University at community outreach events and partnership meetings.
  • Source, interview, and hire all seasonal camp staff.
  • Design comprehensive training programs focused on safety, curriculum delivery, customer service, and the university’s brand values.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to program staff, student employees, instructors, volunteers, and camp personnel.
  • Serve as a resource to University departments seeking to develop or administer youth-focused programs and camps.

  • Experience working alongside marketing teams to deploy digital campaigns, lead-generation tactics, and community outreach.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage complex, overlapping schedules, staffing grids, and facility bookings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface with university executives, faculty, seasonal staff, parents, and campers alike.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends in support of programs and events.
  • Regular attendance at programs, camps, workshops, and special events is required.
  • Requires a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, and weekends.

Experience Level

  • Five plus years of progressive leadership experience in camp management, auxiliary services, or recreational program administration, ideally within a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated success in a sales-driven or revenue-generating role with full P&L accountability.

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field is required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.

Salary/Compensations

  • $70,000 - $80,000
