About the Role
The Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing engagement that reaches everyday New Yorkers, empowering them in policy development and ensuring government accountability. This role serves as a direct link between the community, the Mayor, his administration, and City agencies.
Responsibilities
- Maintain key relationships with the citywide community of their identity community.
- Attend relevant community events and represent the Mayor at community events.
- Develop meaningful, reciprocal, and trust-reinforcing relationships with their identity community, community leaders, community-based organizations, advocacy groups, non-profits, and policy experts related to their identity community.
- Communicate quickly, effectively, and compassionately with community members and community stakeholders in times of emergencies.
- Generate and execute campaign plans in coordination with other members of OME.
- Collect and share community feedback and innovative ideas back from their identity community with fellow OME staff, the administration, and/or relevant governmental entities.
- Create pathways to make local government more accessible and understandable to their identity community.
- Serve as constituent liaison when necessary, working with senior Administration staff to respond to questions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 3+ years of experience.
