About the Role
The Office of the Chief Counsel to the Mayor and City Hall is seeking a public service-minded attorney to provide legal and strategic guidance to senior policymakers on policy, legislation, compliance, and ethics.
Responsibilities
- Research local, state, and federal laws, court decisions, and legal authorities.
- Provide policy guidance and legal analysis to City Hall staff to advance mayoral initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior administration officials on transparency projects and Freedom of Information Law compliance.
- Analyze conflicts, ethics, and privacy questions, including outside activities and gift requests.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, releases, licenses, and other agreements.
- Provide legal analysis on employment, EEO, and conflict matters.
- Act as a policy advisor to agencies reporting to the Chief Counsel.
- Review and make legal judgments regarding sensitive material.
Requirements
- Admission to the New York State Bar.
- Maintain good standing with the New York State Bar for the duration of employment.
- Minimum 1+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar.
- Eighteen months of experience in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity, or performing highly complex legal work.
