About the Role
The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is seeking a Community Assistant to perform general housekeeping duties and routine tasks related to client services, ensuring sanitary conditions and supporting daily operations within shelter intake sites.
Responsibilities
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain agency and regulatory standards for health and sanitation.
- Perform routine tasks related to the provision of client services.
- Maintain sanitary conditions in restrooms, dorms, laundry rooms, common areas, outside perimeters, office space, kitchen, and cafeteria.
- Remove and dispose of litter and garbage.
- Distribute and replenish toiletries and exchange linen.
- Load and unload deliveries, stock supplies, and maintain inventory records.
- Transport household supplies, equipment, and client lockers.
- Distribute client mail and remove/store client belongings.
- Organize serving areas and participate in food service.
- Provide client escort service.
- Assist in monitoring client program activities.
- Monitor client crowd control.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
Requirements
- Ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
- Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
