About the Role

The Fair Fares program is a Mayoral initiative to subsidize NYCT fares for low-income families and New York City residents living at or below the federal poverty line. This role involves assisting consumers with the enrollment and application process for discount subway and bus services.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and enroll participant referrals daily via walk-in, electronic, or telephonic methods.
  • Review consumer documents for completeness and ensure all necessary paperwork for the Fair Fares application process is present.
  • Authenticate official documentation while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Undergo mandatory specialized training in reviewing and authenticating official documentation.
  • Navigate the enrollment database, scan authenticated documents, and data enter consumer information accurately.
  • Finalize and submit complete Fair Fare applications.
  • Notify consumers of missing documentation and guide them on obtaining required information.
  • Inform consumers about obtaining official documents and submitting complete applications.
  • Respond to consumer questions and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate communication regarding site-specific issues with the supervisor.
  • Create, organize, schedule, and present information to community audiences through public speaking, information sessions, and setting up information tables.
  • Coordinate efforts to facilitate communications across the five boroughs of New York City to support consumers in the Fair Fare enrollment process.
  • Provide adequate personnel coverage at various locations.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the described duties.
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above requirement.
