About the Role
The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is seeking a Housing Manager for the Leased Housing Department’s Bronx Client Services team. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, ensuring compliance with HUD regulations and agency policies. The Housing Manager provides staff leadership, technical guidance, and promotes operational efficiency while ensuring timely and accurate completion of recertifications and lease renewals.
Responsibilities
- Ensure understanding and compliance with NYCHA, state, and federal legislation and HUD guidelines for the Housing Choice Voucher program.
- Ensure compliance with NYCHA policy and procedure and HUD regulations, and timely and accurate completion of all work related to recertification and lease renewal processing.
- Ensure the timely and accurate response to all inquiries.
- Oversee staff performance, including supervision, training, productivity management, hiring actions, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Use HUD regulations, NYCHA policy, and procedure to review and evaluate documents for lease renewals, annual, and interim recertifications.
- Assist in performance analysis for assigned responsibilities, including preparing reports, findings, and recommendations.
- Provide technical assistance to staff for accurate case processing.
- Navigate and identify system issues, fixes, and enhancements.
- Ensure prompt, accurate, and timely responses to external and internal inquiries.
- Establish working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have permanent civil service status in the title of Housing Manager.
- Candidates eligible for the 55-a Program should indicate their interest in their cover letter.
- Interagency transfers into NYCHA are not permitted if an active promotion or preferred list exists for the same title.
- NYCHA employees applying for transfer must have served one year at their current location and in their current title and level.

- Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
- Undergraduate college credits may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of full-time satisfactory experience.
Salary/Compensations
- $100,000 to $125,000
- USD 72066 - USD 111483
