About the Role
Prepare and apply plastering materials to interior and exterior surfaces under supervision. This role involves various plastering techniques and requires travel within assigned neighborhoods.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and apply all plastering materials including Fireproofing, Soundproofing, and all types of Cement Stucco, E.I.F.S. Stucco.
- Apply plastering materials to walls, ceilings, piers, and columns using a hawk and trowel.
- Plaster partition walls and patch plaster walls with limited areas of damage.
- Tape sheet rock and repair damaged sheet rock walls.
- Set up and work on scaffolds.
- Perform work in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Maintain records.
- Supervise assigned personnel.
Requirements
- Three years of full-time satisfactory experience performing plastering work.
- At least one and half years of full-time satisfactory experience performing plastering work, plus sufficient full-time experience as a plasterer's apprentice, or training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational school, to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience.
- Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of apprentice experience or approved trade or vocational high school training.
- Candidates will be required to take and pass a practical exam.
- Candidates are required to wear a full Plasterer’s uniform and have a full set of plaster tools for the practical exam.
- NYCHA employees applying for promotional opportunities must have served a period of one year at current location and in current title and level (if applicable).
