About the Role

The Commercial Systems and Intelligence squad is a new team focused on building the infrastructure for merchant acquisition, commission calculation, and merchant lifecycle management. This role offers the opportunity to shape the team's processes, architecture, and standards from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Aggregate data to determine acquisition channel or sales agent impact on merchant actions.
  • Establish data models, API contracts, and rule definitions to automate commission workflows.
  • Build the Lifecycle Event Log in collaboration with the Merchant Intelligence squad.
  • Develop internal backoffices and APIs for sales monitoring and dispute resolution.
  • Define and document API contracts, schemas, and integration patterns.
  • Establish best practices for testing, observability, and incident response.
  • Utilize AI and agentic coding tools for service scaffolding, testing, code exploration, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong backend engineering background in Go or fluency in typed languages with a willingness to learn Go.
  • Experience designing APIs and distributed systems with clear contracts, versioning, and integration patterns.
  • Proficiency in relational and analytical databases (PostgreSQL, Snowflake).
  • Experience building Kafka-based, event-driven systems, including event sourcing and CDC patterns.
  • Experience in auditable, high-trust systems (fintech, payments, or similar domains).
  • Proven ability to build services from scratch in greenfield environments.
  • Experience with testing, observability, and incident response practices.
  • Resourceful, adaptable, and able to take end-to-end ownership.
  • Ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Pragmatic approach to development, understanding when 'good enough' is sufficient.
  • Mentorship instincts and a desire to raise the bar for team members.
