About the Role
Block by Block employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role offers high visibility at the street level to perform a variety of cleaning tasks in an assigned zone, while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
Responsibilities
- Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile to provide directions and/or city information.
- Remove litter such as fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris from streets, sidewalks, and alleys.
- Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, and news boxes.
- Pull weeds from tree wells, sidewalk cracks, and vacant lots.
- Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces like trash can lids and news boxes.
- Observe for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios.
- Complete basic daily reports of tasks completed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
- Valid TX Driver's License is preferred.
