About the Role

Lead the legal function of an established, technology-led European business, reporting directly to the CEO. Partner with the executive team on strategic, commercial, and operational matters, with an immediate focus on supporting the commercial side of the business and enhancing operational maturity.

Responsibilities

• Act as the leading legal adviser to the CEO, leadership team, and Board, providing commercially focused advice on strategic decisions, legal risk, and business priorities.
• Lead and develop the legal function, mentoring a multidisciplinary team and fostering a pragmatic, business-oriented approach.
• Take ownership of the company's commercial legal work, advising on customer, supplier, technology, procurement, and strategic partnership agreements.
• Support complex commercial negotiations, balancing legal risk with practical solutions.
• Partner with commercial, operations, product, finance, and technology teams on day-to-day legal matters.
• Drive improvements to legal operations by refining contract templates, playbooks, and internal processes.
• Champion the adoption of AI and legal technology to streamline legal workflows.
• Oversee the company's corporate governance framework, including entity management, Board matters, and shareholder activities across multiple jurisdictions.
• Support strategic projects, including acquisitions, investments, partnerships, and corporate transactions.
• Advise on regulatory and compliance matters across Europe, working with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• German-qualified lawyer (Volljurist) with approximately 10+ years of PQE from a combination of private practice and in-house roles.
• Strong commercial experience, particularly supporting sales, procurement, technology, or strategic partnerships.
• Proven track record of supporting businesses in the logistics, transportation, or mobility sector.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring legal teams.
• Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels.
• Experience building legal processes, introducing legal operations improvements, or leveraging technology for efficiency is highly valued.
• Fluent in both German and English.
