About the Role
We are seeking a Senior MEP Cost Manager specialising in Data Centres to join our team in London. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing cost planning and commercial management activities for mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems on complex data centre projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates for MEP systems within data centre projects.
- Analyse and report on cost variances, providing recommendations to improve value and commercial performance.
- Collaborate with project teams to support cost-effective and efficient design solutions.
- Prepare and manage tender documentation, contracts and procurement strategies.
- Contribute to value engineering activities to identify opportunities for optimisation.
- Manage change control processes and support the negotiation of contract variations.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance on MEP systems and associated costs to clients and project stakeholders.
- Monitor and forecast project cash flow performance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements and project procedures.
- Support the development of colleagues through mentoring, coaching and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field
- Professional certification from a recognised body such as RICS or CIOB
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in MEP cost management, with a focus on data centre projects
- Advanced knowledge of MEP systems and data centre infrastructure
- Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., CostX, Causeway)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proven project management expertise
- In-depth understanding of data centre design and construction principles
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to MEP systems and data centres
- Demonstrated experience in contract administration and procurement
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Strong leadership skills with the capacity to mentor junior team members
