About the Role
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit organization focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Early Childhood Site Director is responsible for program development, implementation, and supervision of children in an early childhood setting, ensuring their social, physical, spiritual, and mental development within a wraparound care program.
Responsibilities
- Maintain records as required by the YMCA and NYS OCFS licensing.
- Purchase program supplies.
- Supervise, schedule, train, and regularly evaluate staff.
- Fill staff vacancies in conjunction with the Regional Childcare Director following established YMCA policies.
- Maintain all employee licensing files and ensure they are completed.
- Provide feedback to staff regarding performance.
- Plan, conduct, and supervise a creative and stimulating program that is age-appropriate for Pre-school children.
- Plan daily and monthly activities and guide staff in doing the same.
- Plan regular special events for families of participants.
- Ensure the health and safety of children and staff.
- Develop and train staff in emergency procedures.
- Develop and implement discipline procedures as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their children.
- Meet regularly with the Regional Childcare Director, providing program updates.
- Maintain licensing files, including emergency disaster plans, childcare roster, and administrative designations.
- Ensure all areas, equipment, and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
- Ensure proper documentation and follow-through with NYS OCFS/Family of Woodstock as required.
- Communicate with School Leadership.
Requirements
- Meet all qualifications required by New York State OCFS to serve as an Early Childhood Site Director.
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible leadership experience managing licensed childcare programs.
- Minimum age of 25.
- Within 30 days of hire, complete Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Fulfill state-specific hiring standards and complete YMCA program-specific training.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
