About the Role
This role is a key interface between our German Headquarter, UK government entities, partner(s) and internal departments, managing international suppliers and local contractors on a strategic government project in the UK. The ideal candidate combines strong project governance experience with the ability to thrive in a complex, multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for project budget management.
- Monitor costs, prevent overruns, and ensure transparent financial reporting to HQ.
- Manage local procurement and mitigate financial risks.
- Act as the primary point of contact between UK-based operations and senior leadership.
- Provide regular progress reports, risk assessments, and financial updates.
- Translate local issues into clear data for strategic decision-making.
- Navigate the processes, reporting lines and decision-making protocols of an international corporate environment.
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with prospects and customers.
- Navigate bureaucratic processes to secure permits and approvals.
- Represent the company in high-level government meetings and presentations.
- Collaborate closely with local teams contributing to project deliverables.
- Align priorities, timelines, and resources across functions without direct disciplinary authority.
- Manage conflicts and competing priorities through negotiation and relationship-building.
- Ensure the 'why' behind project decisions are clearly communicated to motivate cross-functional teams.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle.
- Apply IT knowledge to coordinate with technical departments and suppliers.
- Identify and mitigate operational, security, and logistical risks.
Requirements
- Proven track record managing high-scale, complex projects (government projects preferred).
- Demonstrable experience of working within international companies and an understanding of corporate governance, compliance, and reporting standards.
- Proven experience managing international suppliers and contractors across borders and time zones.
- Demonstrable experience managing significant project budgets.
- Proven ability to deliver results through teams not under direct line management—influencing, negotiating, and aligning without direct managerial authority.
- Fluency in English– must be able to write detailed reports and negotiate with international stakeholders.
- Sufficiently technically literate to oversee tech-heavy deliverables and communicate effectively with technical departments and suppliers.
