About the Role

The Senior Commercial Finance Analyst will support the Group Commercial Finance Director in delivering high-quality commercial finance support across capital planning, new site feasibility, property, leases, insurance, commercial agreements, and business partnering activities. This role provides analytical, modelling, and commercial insight to support decision-making for senior stakeholders and strengthens governance, reporting, and data-led decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Group Commercial Finance Director in the day-to-day management, review, and reporting of Group capital planning.
  • Review capex submissions and business cases to ensure they are complete, appropriately supported, and aligned with Group policy and approval requirements.
  • Prepare analysis on committed, approved, and forecast capex spend, highlighting risks, variances, and areas requiring management attention.
  • Support the development and maintenance of capital planning reporting, governance trackers, and approval materials.
  • Work with Finance, Development, and Operations teams to ensure capex decisions are supported by clear financial analysis and appropriate challenge.
  • Prepare and review financial models for new site opportunities, refurbishments, and development projects.
  • Support the review of key assumptions, including revenue, cost, payroll, rent, capex, working capital, and return metrics.
  • Prepare concise summaries of feasibility outputs, sensitivities, and key risks for senior stakeholder review.
  • Work with Development, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure feasibility models are robust, consistent, and clearly documented.
  • Support the assessment of accounting implications linked to new site decisions, including leases, capitalisation, and impairment considerations.
  • Support financial analysis relating to leases, property costs, rent reviews, lease amendments, and other property-related commercial arrangements.
  • Assist in the financial review of JV, HMA, and key commercial agreements, ensuring key terms are understood, summarised, and reflected in management reporting.
  • Prepare analysis to support negotiation, renewal, or restructuring of commercial agreements.
  • Maintain clear summaries of key obligations, financial commitments, and commercial risks across relevant agreements.
  • Work closely with Legal, Property, and Finance colleagues to provide timely financial input into commercial decision-making.
  • Support the Group Commercial Finance Director with analysis and reporting relating to insurance programmes, claims, and coverage matters.
  • Assist with the preparation and financial support of Business Interruption and Contingent Business Interruption claims.
  • Gather, reconcile, and analyse financial information required to support claims preparation and recovery.
  • Work with Operations, Finance, and external advisors to ensure claims data is accurate, well-evidenced, and clearly presented.
  • Help maintain reporting on open claims, recoveries, insurance costs, and key risk areas.
  • Provide analytical support to the Group Commercial Finance Director in business partnering Soho Works, Residences, and other business lines.
  • Prepare monthly performance analysis, commercial insight, and decision-support materials for relevant business areas.
  • Support the review of revenue, cost, margin, and profitability trends, identifying opportunities to improve performance.
  • Build strong working relationships with operational and functional teams, providing clear, practical, and commercially focused finance support.
  • Translate financial analysis into clear commentary and recommendations for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Support the use of AI-enabled tools, ERP data, and automation to improve the quality, speed, and consistency of commercial finance analysis.
  • Help develop repeatable reporting templates, dashboards, and analytical outputs across capital planning, feasibility, and commercial agreements.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and strengthen decision-making through better use of systems and automation.
  • Support process improvements across commercial finance workstreams, ensuring outputs are efficient, controlled, and scalable.
  • Maintain strong documentation and version control for key models, reports, and governance materials.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial finance, FP&A, investment appraisal, or corporate finance experience, ideally gained in a multi-site, hospitality, property, leisure, retail, or consumer-facing business.
  • Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills, with experience preparing or reviewing business cases, feasibility models, or investment appraisals.
  • Good understanding of capex, leases, property costs, and commercial agreements.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to turn analysis into clear, concise outputs for senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with ERP, BI, or reporting tools, with an interest in AI-enabled analytics and automation.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to challenge assumptions and identify risks or inconsistencies.
  • Good technical accounting awareness, particularly around leases, capex, and capitalisation, with willingness to work closely with technical accounting specialists.
  • Experience in hospitality, property, leisure, retail, membership, or multi-site businesses would be advantageous.
  • Commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working close to the business, reviewing investment decisions, supporting strategic projects, and improving the quality of financial insight.
  • Comfortable working with detailed models and data, but equally able to step back and explain the key commercial message clearly.
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and confident operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
  • Looking to build broader commercial finance experience across capital planning, property, new site feasibility, insurance, commercial agreements, and business partnering within a growing international group.
