About the Role
The Business Development Manager is responsible for originating, developing, and advancing renewable energy projects from initial opportunity identification through to construction readiness. The role focuses on building a high-quality project pipeline, securing commercial opportunities, managing stakeholder relationships, and leading project development activities including permitting, land acquisition, grid interconnection, environmental assessments, and commercial negotiations. This role plays a critical part in delivering sustainable business growth by transforming development opportunities into commercially viable renewable energy assets.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop a strong pipeline of large-scale solar, stand-alone BESS, and onshore wind projects.
- Develop new project opportunities and seek approval for controlled pipelines.
- Lead the project development process, including obtaining various permits for land, interconnection, and environmental assessment to achieve construction readiness.
- Negotiate with partners to achieve optimal business outcomes while protecting the organization's interests.
- Support the administration of deals throughout all stages, from proposal to construction.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance in the preparation and submission of tender and contract documents.
- Collaborate with customers and internal Project Integration teams to align project timelines.
- Work with the internal Supply Chain team on procurement and deployment of materials/equipment to optimize business results.
- Review project requirements, including capital planning and funding, project registration, and project financing.
- Manage internal approval processes such as credit information and contracts.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience, with an understanding of solar project technical evaluation.
- Good knowledge of renewable (solar or wind) business regulations, trends, and industry practices, including an understanding of energy and environmental issues.
- Understanding of financial modeling and commercial activities such as funding arrangements and legal requirements.
- Experience in project or business structuring for the renewable business is advantageous.
- Ability to manage the project development process with various stakeholders and suppliers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software.
