About the Role

The Cook supports the delivery of a high-quality, safe, and resident-centered dining experience by preparing and presenting meals that meet organizational standards, dietary needs, and resident preferences. The role works collaboratively to ensure meals are enjoyable, consistent, and contribute to resident dignity, wellbeing, and comfort. The Cook maintains a clean, safe, and efficient work environment, follows established procedures, and supports positive interactions with residents, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals in line with corporate menus, recipes, and dietary requirements
  • Ensure all meals meet IDDSI, allergen, cultural, and texture-modified needs
  • Deliver well-presented, appetising meals served at the correct temperature
  • Support food preparation, portioning, plating, and kitchen operations
  • Follow safe food handling, hygiene, and infection control standards
  • Complete documentation including temperature checks, cleaning logs, and production records

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
  • Food safety knowledge and safe food handling practices
  • Understanding of special diets, allergens, and IDDSI requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and follow direction
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to resident-centred care and positive dining experiences
  • Basic computer and documentation skills
  • Experience in aged care or healthcare food service (highly regarded)
  • Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies
