About the Role

The Senior Manager, Data Management leads the strategy, governance, and execution of enterprise data management capabilities. This role involves defining the data roadmap, overseeing data quality, metadata, master data, and stewardship, while leading a team and influencing cross-functional stakeholders to ensure data standards and ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and refine enterprise data management strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Manage and evolve the data management roadmap with regular stakeholder reviews.
  • Translate organizational goals into concrete data projects.
  • Identify strategic risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Lead change management, workshops, and training to improve data literacy.
  • Lead metadata management projects to improve data discoverability and lineage.
  • Manage master data modelling, hierarchy, and golden record processes.
  • Integrate metadata and master data solutions with analytics and operational systems.
  • Expand frameworks for data governance, ethics, quality, and metadata management.
  • Oversee the creation and adoption of enterprise data policies and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with data-related regulatory and privacy requirements.
  • Define data quality standards, KPIs, and monitoring methodologies.
  • Mentor and lead a team of data professionals.
  • Lead and engage a network of data owners and stewards.
  • Facilitate cross-functional data governance forums and steering committees.
  • Partner with engineering, analytics, and product leaders to align on data priorities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or related disciplines.
  • 2–3 years of formal people management experience.
  • Experience building or scaling a data governance program from the ground up.
  • Experience leading enterprise-level master data management and metadata management projects.
  • Hands-on experience with data catalogue or governance platforms like Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, quality methodologies, and metadata principles.
  • Experience in hiring, performance management, and career development.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks like GDPR or CCPA.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management and change management skills.
  • Program management experience handling multiple complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% per year.
  • Legally authorized to work in the Netherlands, UK, US, or Kenya.
