About the Role
Drive Japan tour guides performance management to meet Excellence Goals. Report to the Country Manager, Japan.
Responsibilities
- Hire and develop a strong and skilled tour guides team in Japan that aligns with company values.
- Develop and lead training and coaching programs for tour guides, including annual, mini, and one-on-one sessions.
- Complete tour scheduling to maximize the performance of top tour guides.
- Develop and lead team assessments for tour guides and implement quality improvement actions per company guidelines, such as improvement plans, one-on-one coaching, rescheduling, and termination.
- Support tour guides in achieving excellence goals through pre-trip briefings, post-trip debriefings, on-site ride-alongs, emergency handling, and managing difficult travelers.
- Provide travelers' surveys and tour guides' performance results to the team and initiate timely performance actions.
- Review travelers' surveys and comments to promptly raise critical issues with recommendations.
- Prepare and distribute bi-weekly newsletters to keep the team updated on business status, operational changes, and company initiatives.
- Oversee the timely completion of all administrative work related to tour guides.
- Collect feedback from the tour guides team to identify product issues for improvement.
- Support monthly audits on the accuracy of travel documents for Japan itineraries and web content.
- Provide 24/7 emergency support on a rotational basis.
Requirements
- Fluent English (speak, read, and write effortlessly).
- Native Japanese proficiency (written and spoken).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the international travel trade.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, people management, risk management, and change management skills.

Experience Level

- Certificate of Travel Agency (“TAⅢ” (Type 3)) or Travel Service Arrangement Agency (“TSAA” (Type 6)) preferred.
