About the Role
Croydon Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Housing Litigation Lawyer to join its Housing and Litigation Legal Team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to manage a varied and challenging caseload, providing high-quality legal advice and representation on a wide range of housing litigation matters.
Responsibilities
- Manage a full spectrum of housing litigation work, including possession proceedings, housing disrepair claims, injunction applications and enforcement, homelessness matters, unauthorised occupation and trespass cases, and tenancy management and tenancy fraud issues.
- Provide strategic housing law advice to client departments.
- Conduct litigation from inception to conclusion.
- Advise officers and senior stakeholders.
- Draft legal documentation.
- Instruct counsel where required.
- Represent the organisation in court and tribunals.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX Lawyer.
- Substantial experience in housing litigation.
- Strong working knowledge of housing and public law.
- Excellent advocacy, drafting, and case management skills.
- Ability to provide practical, solution-focused legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
