About the Role

Local Area Coordination is a specific approach to helping people build a positive vision for their lives, a plan to achieve their vision, and to walk alongside them while they take positive action. As a Local Area Coordinator, you will be based in the local area working with local people, families, and the community, becoming a familiar presence and a trusted point of contact. You will use a person-centered and strengths-based approach to improve health and wellbeing, build resilience, strengthen natural networks, and navigate complex systems, playing a vital role in helping communities grow stronger, more inclusive, and more connected. This is a rewarding, highly relationship-focused role where no two days are the same.

Responsibilities

  • Spend approximately 80% of your working week out in the community.
  • Work within New Addington and travel around the local area, which may involve significant periods of walking, standing, and moving between locations.
  • Engage with local people during a community-based task as part of the interview process.

Requirements

  • Excellent local knowledge of Croydon and the New Addington area and people specifically.
  • Proven experience supporting marginalized individual people and families from diverse backgrounds in a similar role.
  • Strong listening and communication skills, with a genuine commitment to working with people.
  • Knowledge and skills in strengths-based, person-centred, and holistic approaches, with the ability to help people shape and pursue their own goals.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Creative and independent problem-solving ability.
  • A solid understanding and experience of safeguarding practice and processes.
  • The ability to carry out dynamic risk assessment and to act autonomously whilst complying with procedures and practices.
  • Good knowledge of the health and social care system, and other statutory and/or voluntary services.
  • Cultural and inclusive competence.
  • Must be able to work within New Addington and travel around the local area.
  • Candidates who hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car are preferred.
  • Must be available for interview dates if shortlisted.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

Salary/Compensations

  • Grade 8 - £40,182 - £42,060 p.a.
